Day Out Against Drugs: Parent’s, Peers and Allies

April 23, 2022 @ 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Day Out Against Drugs: Parents, Peers and Allies is an educational event open to everyone in the community, especially parents and anyone that has an influence in a youth’s life. Four keynote speakers will talk on the harms of e-cigarettes and vaping on the lungs and mental health of youth and how strong family interaction and prosocial involvement can lower substance use. In a Utah SHARP (Survey Health and Risk Prevention) that was conducted in Northern Utah, the numbers of tobacco usage from vaping and e-cigarettes almost doubled from 2015 to 2019 in middle school and high schoolers. 21.6% of 12th graders admitted to vaping in 2019. In educating parents and peers and allies of this increased problem, we hope to lower the numbers of youth participation of harmful substances. This conference will also be a fun family event with food trucks, community resource booths, a youth yoga class, and raffle drawing prizes. This event is free and open to the public.
